Exploring the Maldives: A Budget-Friendly Guide to Staying in Water Villas🇲🇻

by Author

Are you planning a trip to the Maldives and dreaming of staying in a water villa, but want to keep it budget-friendly? Whether you’re visiting for your honeymoon, with family, or friends, this guide will help you explore the luxurious water villas in the Maldives without breaking the bank.

Why Choose Water Villas in the Maldives?

Water villas are iconic in the Maldives. With crystal-clear turquoise waters surrounding your villa, this experience feels like a dream come true. Imagine waking up to the sound of the ocean beneath you, with direct access to swim and snorkel right from your doorstep.

We spent four nights in the Maldives, with three nights in a beach villa and one night in a water villa. The property we stayed at offers a variety of villa categories. If you’re curious, you can find the link to the property in the description, and I’ll share more details about pricing throughout this blog.

Weather in the Maldives: What to Expect

The Maldives has a tropical climate, which means it can get quite sunny during the day, especially around noon. But don’t worry; the island breeze and the allure of water activities make it easy to manage the heat.

How to Choose Your Villa

Our stay in the Maldives included a mix of a beach villa and a water villa, giving us the best of both worlds. If you’re considering staying in a water villa, I highly recommend trying it at least for one night to truly experience the luxury. Keep in mind, water villas are more expensive, but the experience is worth it. A typical water villa upgrade can increase your budget by 15,000 to 20,000 rupees per night, depending on the property.

Inside the Water Villa: Luxury at Its Best

The water villa we stayed in was truly luxurious. From the complimentary toiletries to the large bathroom with an open shower, every detail was top-notch. We were upgraded to a water villa with a Jacuzzi, and though we didn’t opt for a private pool, the villa still felt like a dream.

Here’s a quick tour:

  • Spacious room with a king-sized bed
  • Private deck with ocean access
  • Modern bathroom with luxury amenities
  • Jacuzzi for ultimate relaxation

Pro tip: The water villa offers amazing sunset views. Make sure to take a dip or relax on the deck to fully appreciate the stunning scenery.

Budget-Friendly Booking Tips

For booking flights and hotels, I recommend using Wego App, which compares over 100 websites to give you the best deals. Whether you’re flying with SpiceJet, IndiGo, or looking for hotel deals on booking.com or Airbnb, Wego finds the cheapest options for you. The app also has a feature for train bookings through IRCTC, making it a versatile tool for all types of travel.

Dining in the Maldives: Lagoon Restaurant

We also got the chance to dine at the Lagoon Restaurant, located right above the water. The ambiance here is incredible, especially at sunset. The food quality was excellent, though the portion sizes were slightly smaller than other places we visited. If you’re a seafood lover, you’ll enjoy the variety of dishes, including fish kebabs, fried rice, and beef curry. The presentation was beautiful, and though drinks are not included in the package, you can purchase them at an extra cost.

Final Thoughts on the Maldives Trip

Visiting the Maldives, especially staying in a water villa, feels like you’re living in a dream. Whether you’re here for your honeymoon, with family, or friends, the Maldives is a place that will leave you with unforgettable memories. Our experience, from the luxurious water villas to the dining and incredible ocean views, made our trip truly worthwhile.

If you’re looking for a mix of luxury and budget-conscious travel, make sure to plan wisely. And if you’re looking to splurge, try upgrading to a water villa for at least one night—you won’t regret it!
